Well, wanna Try, God this offer would be crazy to try, would you take this offer? hahaha

This latest ad from the British Council (h/t to Danwei) should appeal to the scores of English teachers in Shanghai who are looking for a change in environment, and the pay looks good too! --

Alas, only UK passport holders can be considered for the posts (and you have until 20 September to send in those applications!). Now we're not totally sure if it's British Council's standard policy of hiring only UK natives (ie., no Americans, Australians, New Zealanders?) but even if that weren't the case, Americans likely won't be welcome there anytime soon to teach English, as the above propaganda poster shows, which depicts President Bush getting crushed by his own missiles.

good luck

I heard the British Council in Hong Kong has more American teachers than Brits.

I understand there are several well paid openings for missile designers.

I think there's something cool about teaching English in North Korea, but only for a week or so. It's unlikely that you'd ever be allowed out to appreciate or learn about the country (most visitors have a permanent minder who tells them what they can photograph and who they can talk to). The food would probably suck too - and you'd feel guilty eating it when everyone around you is starving. Do it for a longer period and I think you'd go insane, though I admit Alex you might not notice the difference...

Korean chicks are hot!

And you know they aren't going to be fat!

That's scary, not to mention bias. I wouldn't even visit NK, never been and never wanted to go.

Oh yeah I am in, this looks like the chance for me to get a head in the world of freedom and fairness, NK rocks man I have never lived in a country with balls like they have I think it would be cool we can set up a NKStuff and bitch about the YNKG's and how they ficked as all night and well into the next week for a bowl of rice for their sisters, who will be on the bed next week for the same bowl of rice with fresh water in it.

God it would be great to be a pioneer.

sounds pretty cool...like the other guy said..i'd love to do it for up to a month.  i really wanna get in a check that place out..heck, if i met a pretty girl perhaps i'd considering staying awhile.. haha.. low cost of living and a chance to check out a really different culture..
