very helpful...thx

Several options:

1.  Fly into BKK and stay there for 5 days as there is plenty of things to see and do in Bangkok, not to mention the shopping.

2.  Go directly to Phuket or Koi Samui for the beaches, check Air Asia, Nok Air or Bangkok Airways

3.  Go direct to Chiang Mai and enjoy laid back atmosphere with temples, waterfalls and elephants same airlines above fly there.

I would not try to do 1,000 things in numerous locations, but rather focus on one area and do all 5 days there.

Totally agree with Cynic - you only have time for one place, and I would say for a first visit go to Bangkok.

We did a similar length trip for CNY in 2011, and the photos are here, with blogs about what we did being herehere and here.

At the moment you can book a five night trip with Zuji using the Cathay morning flight there and evening flight back, staying where we stayed for HK$3,900 covering flight and hotel.  It would be cheaper if you could share the hotel room.

Yu got ripped mike.
Return flight including tax 1400hkd ...

The cheapest flights take you there in the evening and back in the morning - you lose most of two days out of the five.  Over the CNY the cheapest I could see were HK$1800 - lower prices at other times of course.  Including a week in a hotel we paid HK$3000 each.  The price above is higher because she would be paying for single occupancy of the hotel room, so that doubles the price.

I just have been to Chiang Mai and I really loved it there, the kindess of the ppl is fantastic.

very interesting photos and blogs...definitely helpful!

This is why I call it my 2nd home.

You were right with what you wrote me about the northern Thailand, we had our best time there and I truly miss it.
Also the ppl at the Amphawa area were really nice and friendly, I saw another Thailand this time.

thx for the tips! i think i'll try to go to BKK and Phuket this time...

Im going march 20 to 27
ive been 6 times , spent around 3months there . 8 Different places .
Pm any specific topics , may be able to help

thx!
