Would you wear a mask at public places if you catch a cold?

I caught a cold recently and went back office after getting a day off. When I came up with a mask at office, some coworkers can understand and think I am doing a right thing, while others thought it was unnecessary and my mask would scare people.

It is said that people who catch a cold in Japan usually wear masks in case they would get someone else sick. Personally I saw some people in HK do the same. However, most people in mainland do not.

To what extent, you can accept a person wearing a mask at public? Will you stare at them and try to be away from them as far as possible?

Yes, it is. Actually an ordinary mask can not prevent people from virus but it can avoid salivary infection.
