Shenzhen Stuff

I've been driving my Mazda 3 for the past year in Shenzhen and have serviced it twice at the Mazda dealership where I bought it. But I'm ready to get away from the place due to the high costs of service and labor costs etc...

Anyone in the Shekou area have a reputable place that isn't going to rip a foreigner off with the cheaper oil brand or not change filters... etc when the better ones were paid for?

We've all heard the horror stories of places that either don't put the oilpan drain cap back on or fill your engine with super cheap oil even though you paid for the brand name.

I knew a guy that got his car back and he soon discovered they hadn't changed the oil filter even though he paid for it.

SO needless to say I want to avoid such trash service and am looking for a place that actually cares for your car, and knows us foreign car owners actually have much more knowledge about it than they expected.

I'd do it myself like I used to back home but the trouble arises when it's time to deal with the used oil.... and i don't care to have to crawl under there much anymore.

Anyone got any help?

Hi Eli,

I can recommend one garage to you in SheKou. Previously they have looked after my old JinBei van ( they did quite a lot of work ) and now they look after my new Higer Van.

I always deal with the head mechanic, he is knowledgeable, efficient and honest. If you like I could take you there and introduce you to them.

Hi Simon.

Sounds great!  Jin Bei... that's a chinese make. If they can service a mazda too, i'd love to meet them. Can we meet sometime?

Give me a call. 15818553223.

THanks for the help!

Eli

My advice, stick to the dealer. Yeah is more expensive but it gives you certain security that they will not fuck around with your car.

Hi Eli,

In my experience its try and error. I have several shops which I can trust with certain jobs on my cars. Important thing is, if you do not want to get ripped off, stay with them when they are doing the repairs/maintenance on the car! It cost me a lot of money, time and patience to learn this lesson! And believe me, I spent a lot of time in tuning and car shops in Shenzhen.

If you do not want to spent the time at the shop and watch the mechanics, I would suggest you stay with the Mazda dealership.

Baqualing has a few good shops which can do all kind of works on your car.  If you want high quality products and good mechanical work, I can recommend some tuning shops around Shenzhen. Workshop X doing a good job with anything related to transmissions, DynoKing is very good at diagnosing electrical problems, there is a Toyo Shop in Baqualing, you can find it by going up Bao An Lu next to Mix City Shopping Mall, direction Baqualing. On Taoyuan Lu you take a right, you will see the blue and white Toyo advertising. They are good for oil changes, tires, lights and small repairs.

For Dyno King and Workshop X you can ask somebody who can read Chinese to find the addresses in the internet.

Hope I could help out.

Cheers

Corin
