Shenzhen Stuff

Parking is expensive and irritating in the city, I thought I'd start this topic so that anyone who knows of or finds free/cheap parking in and around the city could tell us here. (if possible provide addresses or GPS coords)

I'm sorry, but I'm a little irritated by the topic. Parking is pretty straight forward and cheap in Shenzhen, as the maximum legally allowed amount is RMB35 daily. I have never actually paid that much anywhere, because i seldom park for a whole day in the same place. Mostly it's between RMB 7-15 for a couple of hours. The first 15 minutes are free at the most places as well, in some places even the first half hour (Walmart for example). Government owned parking lots, for example at the Civic Center or other departments charge you RMB5 for a whole day, if you have to leave in between and come back on the same day you can just give them the Fapiao from the time before and you won't have to pay again. Parking at the Civic center is actually free if you get a ticket at the counter in Hall A or B.
Parking at almost every restaurant or hotel is free as well, if you get a parking ticket when you pay your bill.

Much cheaper than is most European Cities, that charge you RMB50/hour. And cheaper than Shanghai as they don't have the RMB35 rule. I once paid RMB70 for 3 hours parking at the Pudong Shangri-La. Bastards
I paid 30RMB for 2 and a half hours parking in Nanshan today I think irritating or not that it's a good idea for people to know where to park for free or cheaply, you see where I come from there is no pay for parking. Also it adds up quickly, I also have to pay a daily rate at my apartment complex as the monthly cards are on a waiting list that's over a 150 long,I think others including myself would find this topic useful

Mate, if you can afford to have a car, you can afford to fill it up with petrol, and pay for parking!

Like this pic. Reminds me of drive-time at the corner of Xuefu rd and Nanshan road. Just as chaotic looking

Print out the attached document and keep it in your car.  There are hundreds of free parking spaces arranged by areas and street name.  Unfortunately mostly in Chinese and also no GPS coordinates but it might still proove helpful.

Personally, I do it the Chinese way and park somewhere in the street in front of my house, shops and restaurants blocking the right lane since my building does not have enough parking space. I read that Shenzhen has 700,000 parking spaces for 1.7 million cars, i guess that is why the police lets me get away with it.
