At The Park n Shop in Shekou you can find a lot of Herbs and cheeses. You can find some imported foods if you check out Charlies USA next door to it and the other imported food shop next door to Charlies.... OLE' has a wonderful Cheese selection. I like the Diwang location store more than the Windows of the World one...

Basilico: agree with mynameismine, grow your own and avoid whatever you may find here, there is fresh basilico at Metro, but it's Thai as tastes more like liquorice;
Mozzarella: in Carrefour they usually keep only one brand, Santa Lucia, sometimes they may even have the more expensive buffalo one, but make sure it's not completely destroyed (just touch the package and feel its consistency);
Parmigiano: they have it in Metro, together with Pecorino and Asiago, I sugest you try the three of them....
Keep in mind that you may this saturday and find them, and then not find anything for the next 3 weeks....
Good luck

But unfortunately there aren't many side dishes :(

Basil u better grow by yourself, in my garden I have 25 diff. herbs, someone looks after them, so it's always nice and fresh. Don't buy the dry stuff, it's not worth it. If it's winter I can freeze them and have still fresh ones, if u need something in particular, I'm happy to help if possible :)

Oh I see. Well in that case why not ask the owner of Da Angelo? Or eve La Casa? They use basil and parmesan in their dishes. They should know where to look for it in China :-)))

Well, I am not part Italian and I've still got to make it to Italy but I am a big fan of italian food! I prefer it to Chinese, Korean and French, for example :-P

Bon giorno, Formiga!

I am sorry, I don't speak Italian, although I sometimes can pretend that I do, haha!

I could read your question but I can only reply in English, is that okay?

Did you mean in China or in Shenzhen? Mozzarella, basil and parmesan are all very special foods in China, they are not part of typical Chinese diet, so I can safely say you won't just find them in any supermarket around China.

In Shenzhen you can get all of them in Shekou Seaworld (small shops next to Park'n'Shop). Basil will only be in dry form though. No chance of getting it fresh here :-(

You can also check out supermarkets like Carrefour and Ole's. Or get to HK. In HK you might also be able to get some herbs fresh.

Good luck!
