Discover your city through children's eyes ！

"Window Of My World" is a community project inviting the public to discover the city through children's eyes.

You got excellent interview, graphic, photography/video skills ? Don't hesitate to join this new event, we are looking for volunteers !

Baishizhou, urban village nestled in the middle of the megalopolis, is an unique heritage to rediscover!

Follow the kids in the crowded streets across the maze of the hand-shaking buildings. Your young guides will hold your hand and bring you in their world, in their dreams.

Dare to pass the window and follow them to explore through creativity, the history of this place and meet the people living there.

Program

1. During a workshop, 30 kids from the village will draw their favourite place by memory. Teachers, urban and social researchers and designers are going to communicate with all the kids.
2. After the selection of 9 representative drawings, 9 teams will be created around the kid, with a photographer, a designer and an interviewer. Together they will follow the kid to the site, take photos, meet and interview the villagers.
3. Later each team will develop a creative photo montage representing the imaginary universe of the kid.
4. The process and its results will be exhibit for 2 weeks to the public.
During the opening, each team will present their work in a special Pecha Kucha Night event.

We need you！

For this 5th edition, we make everything new ! Our target is to create 2 days Festival, celebrating Art, Culture, Environment and Music in this Unique Creative Green Lung nested below Wu Tong Mountain.

 

Make everything new...
After Luohu Dongmen, Futian Meillin, Nanshan Nantou and Baoan Xixiang… COASTER RAID explore WuTongShan ! We are now looking for our 9 new raiders : artists, designers and scholars able to meet this challenge !

The mission is simple:
Workshop. With the other raiders explore during 1 weekend the circle drowns on the map. It's the opportunity to meet other creatives, discover/re-discover the site, share and enrich your perception.

8 weeks. To develop your vision/approach by your own way : painting, writing, video, performance, design, poem, dance, music,...

Public Presentation During the Festival of your work to engage further the discussion with the locals about this place. That’s all COASTER RAID !

_Public Art Installations + Studio Porte Ouverte
The visitors Equipped with a COASTER RAID FESTIVAL PASSPORT and MAP, are invited to explore the PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS and PERFORMANCES created by each Coaster Raiders scattered in the territory and the LOCAL CREATIVE STUDIOS and UNIQUELY LOCAL BUSINESS efforts and VENUES associated to the event. Following the WALKING or/and CYCLING PATHS especially developed or using the special and free SHUTTLES BUSES, each one will create his own exploration circuit with astonish art pieces and surprises all along the road.

_BBQ Giant + Electro Concert
Saturday evening, after the exploration, everyone is invited to a huge BBQ, followed by an open and free ELECTRO and VISUAL CONCERT performed in a green and natural amphitheater nestled in the feet of the mountain.

_Mountain Camp
When the foot won’t support dancing anymore, several camping grounds in proximity will welcome the ones interested in fully enjoying the two day festival of pure sensations and inspirations. Others will be invited to come back downtown by the Special COASTER RAID BUSES.

This past Saturday, RIPTIDE had the opening reception of its 4th edition of Coaster Raid: Bao'an at F518 Idea Land.
A huge success, over 250+ attendants came to the event to listen 9 raiders' presentations, enjoy installations and performances and view the work of our Coaster Raiders in the exhibition. Attendants also had the chance to be a part of the exhibition themselves! Bringing items to the public art piece, they shared their stories, thoughts and ideas of the Bao'an they knew and loved.

Saturday 11th June 2011 Southern Metropolis Daily.

It's all about the difference between Governmental and NGO Exhibition.

Gigi (Riptide Founder) and Allen (from WHY NOT EXHIBIT) was interviewed by the journalist of SMD about the difference of our art and design exhibitions and the big ones organized by established city museums. Gigi mentioned the coming Coaster Raid and also evocate our new event DART (Design and ART TOUR).

Yesterday...In Bao'An, preparation of the coming Coaster Raid Event and Exhibition.

Nicole and Michael tested the large Feature Display. Located in the first room of the exhibition, it will be a large cube made by a multitude of hanged paper bands, this cube will be screen for 4 projectors (1 per faces). Graeme and the Shenzhen Photographic Club's work will be presented on this huge structure.

 

Here our first test to check the effect and adjust the dimension of the cube.  

25th of June F518 in Bao'an, the final product !!! Don't miss it.

In 2010, Coaster Raid explored Luohu Dongmen, Futian Meilin, and Nanshan Nantou.

Now, Bao’an Xixiang is waiting for you !
