WELCOME TO THE SKATEBOARDERS GROUP!

Hello,

I set up this group so we could round up people and reliable information about skatespots (skate parks and skate shops) in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and the surrounding area. Also, maybe we can coordinate some skate sessions and just meet up with fellow skaters.

Here is what we've got so far:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SWITCH Skate Shop & SkatePark
Spot: Shekou, Shenzhen. Behind the "new" QSI sports fields
Shop Type: Fairly small. It has a selection of Simple, Safari and a couple other skate boards. Safari and Krux Trucks, some skate shoes and clothes. The staff is non-english-speaking.
Park Type: Cement
Stuff: 1 pool, 2 platforms with straight ramps. 4 table tops, 2 sets of steps (one with a handrail), other raised cement grind sections around the park.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mie Foo
Spot: Hong Kong.
Shop Type: None
Park Type: Cement ground, Metal ramps
Stuff: Two halfpipes (approx 5 feet) and a street section with various quarter pipes, ramps and rails. Check out the photos.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wan Chai SkatePark
Spot: Hong Kong. Off the Chai Wan metro stop (end of the blue line). Go through the Chai Wan Park, keep going straight until you have to turn right or left. Go left for roughly 1 block, then turn right next to a school basketball court. After that, go left and continue on this road all the way up the hill until you see the park on your right.
Shop Type: None
Park Type: Cement ground, Masonite ramps.
Stuff: One mini halfpipe (4-5 feet tall), and a street section with one 5 foot quarter pipe, two rails, a platform with straight ramp, and a "table top" partial pyramid ramp in the middle. Check out the photos.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GRAND THEATRE Skate Spot (NOTE: This is a skate SPOT, not a skate PARK)
Da Ju Yuan
大剧院。
(Thanks to JL for this one!)

It's maybe the most famous for skate in Shenzhen ; pro teams come and shoot tricks there sometimes. Sometimes pro teams come to shoot here (eg Lakai's Fully Flared - Alex Olson part).

what there is : flat curbs, going-down curbs, little steps (3+3), and a handful of strange waves.
how to go : Metro 大剧院 / Da Ju Yuan, look for the grand theater exit (exit B, to be confirmed). At the exit, keep going straight, you will pass by the grand theater square. From there, you can see a big panel featuring DengXiaoPing across the street. Take the underground way to reach the place.
when to : Locals come in the end of afternoon & at night (mostly on Friday/Saturday). At this time, the spot may also be crowded with rollerbladers, dancers and even a nunchaku fighter.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOPEFULLY MORE WILL BE POSTED SOON...

IF YOU HAVE RELIABLE INFO (and photos) OF SKATEPARKS IN OR NEAR SHENZHEN, MESSAGE misterx WITH THE DETAILS AND I CAN ADD IT HERE!

Keep on skatin!

Not being able to read Chinese, I found it hard to find the Shekou skate park and Switch skateshop. Here's it is on map, with some of the many nearby bus routes:

lucky for me, my parents home are 100 yards away from the "Switch" skatepark, i has been rebranded to "Circle" now, I think,,was there 2 weeks ago.

Just get off at "Shuiwan" metro station and ask direction for TiYuZhongXin, 体育中心.
