Guilin, Longsheng
If you are looking for a trip where you can experiance the simple life in China and still have time to meet people from around the world then Guilin is the place to go. I taveled there a couple of times and had a blast. First I started off by going to Longsheng which is a mountain village where the Dong Nationality lives. There are friendly people and the place is beautiful. Then after 2 days I headed to Yangshuo where there is a Western Street. It is a good place to meet people have some, almost western, western food and buy some interested gifts to send home. If you have not been it is a good place to go, and those of you like me who like to camp out you can gather with some friends on the river bed.

I am just back from a trip to Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou,Hangzhou,Xi'an, Sichuan.(my home province)
Was going to visit Jiuzhai gou, but bc of the earthquake. had to cancel the plan.now, Sichuan is safe to vist. I will try to put up some photos here soon

I've been to most parts of china over the past four years. in mid july i'll be going to the rice terraces near longsheng again, been there three times in the past, but it looks different every time i go.
At the end of july i'll be going to the southwest of xinjiang, around kashgar, karakul lake... mostly hiking around the mountains surrounding the lake. then a few days in the taklamakan desert, probably crossing the desert again. i visited this region last year but didnt manage to see all that i wanted to see, so will go back again in three weeks time.
if anyone needs any information for these or other places in china, just ask. i usually keep some good notes of all the places i visit. Some photos i've taken in these places can also be found at the link in my profile.

Don't go there with a chinese travel agence, we spent more time in souvenir shops... that's a real pity when you see so much beautifull places! Next time I'll try to go by myself!
