- Came to Shenzhen November 2009 to make some money after 18 months travelling. Asia seems normal to me now I cant imagine living in the West again. Quite like the place apart from the fact there is hardly any bars that play indie/rock music and a good live music scene seems to be virtually non-existent. I am into music, playing pool, movies, reading and writing articles.

I did not even know about there being a new Thermals album, actually. Actually, my original computer in China was lost when I changed companies, and I recently brought my music hard drive back, so while I have been getting back into music, it's pretty much all from 2011 or prior.
I guess there have been three albums that I'd say I'm really intensely re-discovering though. The first is "We are the Pipettes" by the Pipettes, which is kind of a revival of the 1950's/60's girl group sound, but with more modern subject matter for the songs.
Also Gil Scott-Heron's "I'm New Here". He died in 2011, unfortunately, but he left this great album, which is, how to put this, almost more poetry than music a lot of the time? The intro and outro have the most emotional umph to them, but my favorite track is "New York is killing me".
Last would be ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead's "Source Tags & Codes", last great album of a rock band that has been shitting the bed (ahem, in my opinion) ever since.
