Hi Claudia, have you heard of SWIC (Shekou Women's International Club)?  About 40-50 expat females meet in Shekou for coffee every week, and it has helped me tremendously in my transition to Shenzhen.  If you want more info, feel free to message me.  I have been here in Shekou since September myself.
