About Me:
I spend half my life in Shenzhen and half in the UK. I have travelled the World for the last 35 years, living in Hong Kong, Singapore, Algeria, Bolivia and the USA as well as visiting about another 30 countries. Honestly, I often think that it would be good to act my age, but it is so difficult.

I don't have msn so don't bother to ask. I prefer that we talk on the public comment boards here so that I can remember what I've told you. At the moment I'm getting a lot of comments and, while I try to respond to all, I may miss one. So if you think that I'm ignoring you, I'm not so just resend it.

Outline of my Travels

For those who requested it. There were many other short stays in other countries, but these were places that I lived in a house or flat.

1946-1965 Home and school just outside London

1965-1968 Studied Pure Mathematics at University of Bristol – an interesting historic city in the west of England. A great time.

1968-1973 Worked in London and lived as various places, at home, in flats, with gfs – usually no money by mid-month.

1973-1976 Moved to HK for a big salary increase, so “rich” at last. Lived in the mid-levels with plenty of social life. My HK gf wouldn't marry me because it would mean leaving HK.

1976-1978 Moved to Algeria a mixture of Arab and French background. Interesting cities and splendid mountain and desert scenery. Good strong wine and excellent food. Met my wife – a long and romantic story, both in the normal sense and Jane's.

1978 Columbia, SC, USA – not very interesting.

1978-1980 La Paz, Bolivia, South America at 4000m elevation in the Andes Mountains. Everything about the place was great – the people, the parties, the incredible scenery. Go to Bolivia if you have the chance.

1981 HK again. Birth of my elder daughter, Kathleen, now living in South Africa.

1982-1983 Singapore – quite boring after HK. Birth of my elder son, Alex.

1984-1985 HK yet again. The two kids limited us, but we had a good time.

1985-1988 New Haven, Connecticut, USA. It was time to settle down, so we went to live in America. We made very few friends and were poor again.

1988-1999 HK once more. Rich again – my wife was in property and earning more than me. The peak of my career – if you talked about transport in HK you talked about me. Birth of my younger daughter, Shelly, and my younger son. Chris. Death of my elder son.

1999-present Bought our house in Worcester for a nice quiet life and I commute to various places – mostly SZ – for work and excitement.

Back to the Difu for Dinner

I'd enjoyed a meal there the previous evening with Praveen, Joe, Dan, Jane Kelly and Bingma, but I still headed back again for a quiet Sunday [no beer] dinner. I went straight to Table 33, my favourite, which is usually vacant as few people like to sit at the crossroads of the room. I find that it gets me more attention, so I like it. Then came a giggle of excitement from the adjacent Table 35, and I looked across to see a very familiar face. It took a couple of seconds to recognize her, but it… Continue

Back from the Difu

I finally got my residence permit late Thursday afternoon – too late to move out of the Hotel that day. The final obstacle was my lack of a China visa, as the police computer system does not allow you to enter APEC Business Travel Card, instead of a visa type and number. I am now the proud owner of a HK Return Home Permit according to the police computer system. The two ladies with two babies had extended their stay, now spending what they had saved in hotel bills. We shared the flat for Friday… Continue

Back to the Difu

I came into the office and read Nomad's stuff about the police raid on Sunday morning, and immediately moved into a hotel. I am not registered in my apartment because the old lease expired at the end of June and my landlord has been out of town since. There is a police post in my building, so they know where I am, and I had two Chinese girls turning up later Sunday morning. They are both married and came to SZ to show off their new babies to old friends, and I had said that they could share my… Continue

King Rat

Did I have a surprise last night! I went to the first night my son’s school play – he’d told us that he had a big part. I used to get “third shepherd”, so maybe, I thought, he’d made it to “second shepherd” with actual lines to speak. In fact he was King Rat – one of the three main parts and the one with all the funny lines. He swaggered around the stage and largely dominated proceedings – I was amazed. It wasn’t just his parents who thought so – at the end he got by far the biggest cheer and m… Continue

Hi Mike,
It sounds that u & Jane had a very good time last night!
As far as the cd is concerned, i myself have lots of collection, but did not play long time ago. CD was popular when i was middle-school student, but we played mp3 when i was in college, it develops day by day...
My days in college was funny too, but not as colorful as yours, u might go to wherever u want, but we gals just went to downtown for shopping per weekend, in order to save money, we chose to walk down there, which normally took us 40 mins. Since the way might not be save enough to walk along, we would gather a group to go. So every weekend, we made ourselves exhausted. And in the following Monday morning, we would doze in the class. I think i should say sorry to my teacher who was working so hard at the time, all of these, it just like happened in yesterday....
By the way, all gals in my dorm are lovely and pretty, i miss them very much!
If i had chance, i would introduce them to you.

in this song, the man is listening to radio and it broadcasts the song we listen last night: "will u sitll love me tomorrow" He listens this song with his gf many times ,but now the familiar melody makes him sad as he feels the girl is going to leave him someday,so he keeps asking: will u still love me tomorrow

This is an old song ,very popular when i was a kid,,i think even today,,,it will make many people recall the past,,,

the lyric of that song:
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow
Over...
