I finally got my residence permit late Thursday afternoon – too late to move out of the Hotel that day. The final obstacle was my lack of a China visa, as the police computer system does not allow you to enter APEC Business Travel Card, instead of a visa type and number. I am now the proud owner of a HK Return Home Permit according to the police computer system. The two ladies with two babies had extended their stay, now spending what they had saved in hotel bills. Did I have a surprise last night! I went to the first night my son’s school play – he’d told us that he had a big part. I used to get “third shepherd”, so maybe, I thought, he’d made it to “second shepherd” with actual lines to speak.
