I have placed a short commentary in my Blogg on whether '... all Wing Chun kungfu are the same?' I welcome any opinion about the subject to make it an interesting discussion topic. Love to hear…Continue
Hi Kho Sifu. This is Jason Read. Sorry but been around Foshan researching Wing Chun. I'm also in The Yip Man lineage but from the Foshan branch via Master Lung Kai. We have some slight differences in our system I believe but nothing dramatic. Though I have personally now learned some Leung Jan san sik from Gu Lao village that has given me some unique and interesting insights into my Yip Man style. My sifus are Sifu Lun Kai and his representative in Shenzhen, Master Liang of whom I'm a private student. Oh, not into Wing Chun lineage wars btw!!
I accidentally found your profile on the Internet. My name is Yana, I am from Bulgaria, and I moved with my family to China couple of months ago. We live in Zhang mu Tou now. Do you still live there as well?
I see that you teach kung fu. My older boy who is 5 years old is dying to start kung fu lessons. Do you teach kung fu in Zhang Mu Tou? How about private lessons?
I mean form as in like speaking is a form of communication; limited.
We are partners in learning the physics, rhythms and feeling, but are only able to watch videos and "theorize in motion" on our own, guessing at the essence of the lesson rather than being trained in the real meaning of the theory in action by a real-life master.
The addiction you speak of is what first planted itself in my brain when I first discovered martial arts ( but was not allowed to train in, so resorted to reading about ) so many years ago. It is the accordance to the actual movements that embody Wing Chun that we need help with most I think. Anything we try to do on our own is like creating it all over again from scratch, rather than learning the principles that have existed already for a long time in Wing Chun.
I hope we can find a way to get together at least once weekly with you to learn everything you feel you want to share with us!
I know of the exercise you are talking about. I do a freestyle form of it with friends since we don't yet have a master to give us formal training. Do the Zhangmutou classes mean that you will not be doing it in Shekou any longer???
We want face to face, not proxy. Sorry for the miscommunication. We hope that you can come teach our group face to face in the other side of Nanshan. I have been living in Guangdong a few years now and hate to think that I haven't learned Wing Chun yet!
...I cross the border for books and sandwiches. That's about it. ;)
