Continue

In Sichuan, I ate hotpot because I couldn’t speak Chinese. I didn’t know how to say hello let alone order food in a restuarant. The first Chinese word I learned was “laowai,” which I heard people whisper everywhere I went.
I assumed “laowai” meant “hello.” For a while I greeted people by saying “laowai.” They stared at me as if I was a foreigner.
People stared at me when I ate or when I tried to order a dish. But hotpot was a no hassles meal. I’d grab a bunch of kebabs off… Continue

So I finally got on a bus and took the 5 hour ride to visit Shenzhen and my old friend Kristen. Kristen moved to Shenzhen about 20 days ago and is still getting settled in. I showed up at the bus station on Wednesday only to find I was a day early so I wandered around Zhu Zi Lu or whatever and stayed the night at the Home Inn. Home Inn is an excellent cheap hotel and I crashed out hard. Next day I went to Da ju wan, my Chinese spelling is terrible, and found Kristen at EF. I worked for EF in… Continue

Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bands and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, Every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who… Continue

Last weekend, I had fun hanging out with a number of female friends. Naturally, we talked about what we would like to achieve in the new year. When I threw out'' making money just to buy flowers to wear'' as my No 1 wish, all my friends burst into laughter and shouted their support. One even posted it on Facebook immediately .
For the record, I must say none of us are_ or ever want to be _'' wrapped up.'' All of us believe in our own abilities.
We just want to ride on the right tides… Continue

Just finished reading a good article by J.A. Adande of ESPN.com. In this article Mr. Adande ranks the five best Lakers. If you are a true, die-hard Laker fan, it'll be a nice read for you. Enjoy!
The five greatest Lakers
The same way I can make a distinction between "best player" and "most valuable," I don't assume that Kobe Bryant becoming the leading scorer in Lakers history automatically makes him the greatest Laker of all time.
Even though… Continue

Continue

Continue

I decided to watch the movie "I Hope They Serve Beers in Hell" which is based on the life of Mr. Max himself in his early years. I decided to Google him and came upon his website www.tuckermax.com
in which he is well known in certain circles for being what many would say "The Biggest Dickhead in the World", but he is also quite famous for his blogs about his life and man are they damn funny.
I do forewarn anyone who decides to read them, that… Continue
