Strange way
Didn't I hear you cry this mornin
didn't I feel you weep
Teardrops falling down on me
Like rivers in my sleep
In my dream of laughter
You came creeping with your tears
Telling me your sorrow
In the trace ends of your tears
That's a strange way to tell me you love me
When your sorrow is all I can see
If you just want to cry to somebody
Don't cry to me
No don't cry to me
Didn't I hear your voice this…

I sometimes organise, and I use the word in its loosest possible sense, social events, such as our Fridays Evening Dinners. Up to now I’ve done it using sms, but it’s been a real pain. I usually compose three or four different messages – one for regular attendees, one for occasional attendees who don’t know the meeting place, one for people I’ve not actually met yet, one for people who live a long way away, etc – then send them out and wait for the responses. Then I wait for the…

Song Dynasty Town
There wasn't supposed to be a blog about it, but... Whatever. Since I'm uploading pics, I might as well write a word or two about it.
As much as the Song Dynasty Town is not as disappointing as Suzie Wong's bar, the feeling of minor disappointment somehow is still there. It's a great idea and an interesting place to visit but... I don't know. Maybe it's because there's more shops, then actual attractions. Maybe it's because of those fun-park rides just outside of it, that kind of…

I Am Proud
Today my son informed me he has taken a new job. He is a TV news photographer and currently works in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is the 37th largest market in the country. His new job is in Atlanta, the 9th largest market in the country. This is a great step forward in his career, especially considering he finished university only four years ago,
In his new job he will concentrate on feature stories, not news stories like car wrecks or politicians spouting bull shit.
I…

Everyone knows there are a lot of substandard products out there. Some of them are dangerous, like baby food laced with poison while others are just downright annoying, like Q-tips that break off inside your ear. A Q-tip broke off inside my ear today while I was digging around inside of it trying to get the key out that broke off inside it earlier. Now I have a Q-tip inside my ear and my nose. It's really annoying. If I…

Pass me the revolver
It has recently been claimed that the city's cultural industries - whatever they are - have a bright future. It has also been reported that innovation - whatever that is - will be encouraged. The quote "Whenever I hear the word culture, I reach for my revolver," has been…

May the odds be ever in your favor
Yep, folks. It came, it saw, it conquered ...
Rather, I waited, I saw, and now I'm conquered. Great movie. Brutal, violent but it's just a reflection of life's reality, politics and all. Much of what we see is just a show. Play and be played. And while you're at it, try to stay alive.

China, My Secret Garden.
I've been home for two weeks and one day... And already I'm back in real life.
Saying that I don't miss China would be a lie. I do to a certain extent. Quite strangely what I miss the most is the multi-lingual environment. I miss speaking English and Chinese. But I found an expat corner in a local bar, and I will start going next week and find foreign friends there. I also met a Chinese girl yesterday, she's lonely and a mother-to-be, I think we can both benefit from becoming friends.…
