Fixing the Desire & Missed Opportunities Problem

○ ○ ○

There's a problem. A bug whose fix is long overdue. And I'm ready to own it by going on

record to admit I've been aware of it for some time now. Genuine desire to flawlessly

execute tasks, particularly when it matters most, is the critical line that separates high

achievers and those who've rewritten history time and again, from the mediocre. But

despite knowing that, I've failed in recent years to prioritize & tactfully align jugular

desires (i.e., vision, urgent needs & goals meant to address valid anxieties) to time

available, budget and other limited resources, including people. 2009 was the last

time I received a big grant for research work. Instead of reinvesting the money,

which we'd calculated at the outset wasn't as big as it seemed in a directly re-

levant field like IT, Legal or Information Security training, I chose Education.

We can discuss it behind closed doors or in a conference room. But I had no

business meddling in the Education Industry at the time. Especially, given

both my geographic location and career  trajectory. I instantly knew I'd

made a mistake the morning I walked into three colleagues gossiping.

I walked into a Coffee Room as my most trusted colleague finished

the sentence “I don't understand either. If he's a lawyer, why's he

here then?” Ever notice unauthentic people lack the courage to

directly put important questions to the object of their malice?

Moving on, I've learned my own incompetence was rooted in

in a misalignment between my Desire & Tactics. Having a-

voided my prime responsibility of doing difficult work
related to Law, Security and cutting-edge Technology

(see what Fear in the heptagram correlates with), I

opened myself up, in another twist of fate, to the

absolute wrong team, questionable Reputation,

values & all. In the right team, ideas—not egos

—clash. In a wrong team creative problem

solving and the Persistence element are

actively stifled and Fear contaminates

Desire. Even if the desire or goal's a

little misplaced, misdirected; and

therefore an execution is bound

to result in failure. Going for-

ward, align your Execution

and Tactics with success

& persistence enablers.

And even if you fail a

lot working with the

right team, a win

is still inevitable

because you're

smarter and

therefore

agile and

readier
