There are several plants in my office and the balcony of my office. Usually there is a lady who is responsible to take care of all the plants in office. One day last week, she told me that the ball cactus is dying. I was shocked. It is placed besides the printer on my left side. The side it showed me still looked good. But the other side, which is close to the door to balcony, it has rotted away. And the other day, when a banker visited, she told me that another green plant on the cupboard in my back did not look good, too. I felt so sorry for them.
I checked internet and understand that they may fall sick mainly due to the previous some chilly nights. And as I seldom opened the glass door, the room might be stuffy, which also made them sick. Even I did not feel good during those days.
People suggested me to replace them by new ones. If I agree to do so, the plant company will throw them away directly. I decided to keep them and see if they can recover. I move them out to the balcony during day time and move them back to room after work.
I have no idea if they can be good, but as long as they are still alive, I feel I can not give them up, even I do not notice their existence most of the time. They have been with me over one year. If I easily give up, I will feel bad about myself.

Thanks for all your advices for my cactus. People told me that it will die or already died. I still keep it.
My left leg has some pain before. It lasted for over half an year. I had tried to see doctors in different hospitals. It did not become better. I give up wearing high heels, and take some walk, then let it be, the recent weeks, I found the pain gone, my body fixed the problem by itself. It just needs some time to fix it. Sometimes we are more hardy than we think we are.
I told the lady to reduce the amount of water to it, place it on the balcony with fresh air, if the temperature drops, move it back to room, and change the soil of it next week when she comes. I do my part of work, it needs to help itself.
Hehe.............nutrition la.........give the plants the nutrition what they need ,sometimes water =nutrition in my dictionary .sorry about my Engish :-P

Comment by Filthy Lucre on January 30, 2013 at 11:11pm I suspect the cactus has been over watered.
Comment by Biophoton on January 30, 2013 at 9:28pm @GP, I see. I will take your advices and see what I can do for it. Thank you very much for your helpful tips. The visit of Plant Doctor will be needed very much, too. :-)
Comment by GrandPa on January 30, 2013 at 7:09pm @PerfectCat...I forgot to mention. For your barrel (ball) cactus. You most likely over watered it. Over watering will cause rot. A cactus typically only needs one good watering each month.
Damn, you are so cute!
@GP, I still cannot believe you do know so much about planting. You are amazing! Kisses :-)
@GP, you are absolutely the best gardener in all time! Yes, would the greatest "Plant Doctor" like to pay a visit to me? I am really looking forward to his coming!
Your rose is lucky having the best gardener! :-)
@Heather, thanks and you take good care of your Aloe, too.
@Fey, you are right. I should pay more attention to them.

I am trying to convince this beautiful Cat that the only chance of survival for her plants is to have a house call by an older but slightly charming "Plant Doctor", come on girls, help me persuade her!
