Are you a suspicious, shifty looking foreigner? Are your Papers not in order? If so you may be a target for the newest government crackdown on foreigners with incomplete paperwork or overstaying their visas.

Zhejiang Officials have been giving out rewards for tips relating to foreigners with bad visas. As a part of a bonus program within the “immigration act”, to incentivize information, locals are being encouraged to be on the lookout for foreigners whom they feel don’t have a work residency permit or an in order visa.

One “Good Samaritan” has already cashed in on this. A man named Lin from Jinhua city who had heard about this bonus program noticed a middle eastern man working in one of the local factories. The man was named Mai Hadi and was from Iraq. It turned out however that Lin’s suspicions were correct, as Hadi hadn’t filled out his residency permit with the local officials.

Luckily for Mai Hadi, all he received was an administrative warning. Lin however went on to encourage other Chinese people to inform on foreigners. He said, “Pay attention to who is around you, you can help the police, and also get some money yourself!”

So the next time you are getting stared at by a local Chinese person, it might not just be the color of your skin they’re thinking about.

And hey get your paperwork in!

This is happening in SHENZHEN!!!

"Happened to me yesterday when a guy got angry after I called him out for stealing my taxi... 5 hours in a police station with a psychopath trying to get me arrested/deported (and later trying to extort me for 5k USD in front of police when that wasn't working) because I said "fuck you". Luckily the police are actually reasonable people and saw that the guy who spat on me, insulted my girlfriend, tried to take my picture in the station, grabbed me in front of police, tried to extort me for money and claimed that I insulted his entire country and family (something he actually did did to ME) was insane."

"He created a huge scene outside my building screaming at everyone that I said "Fuck China. Fuck your mother. Fuck etc." (which is what he was screaming at ME while trying to pull open the taxi door and spitting at me) And all I can do is say "wo mei shuo!" Kept trying to act tough in the police station as well. Pretty sure he expected me to be scared of him or something... Hard to be scared when the police are laughing at you in another room you psycho. "

I agree, there are some Chinese who think they know foreigners quite well and always look out to find trouble.  Again Its a request not to make any personal issue that you may have or might find your self into , into a country issue for their are a whole bunch of foreign educated Chinese national who are working hard to dispel that notion. in any case making it a Chinese Vs non Chinese issue doesn't work for us foreigners either.. then why let others make it into. little amount of patience and control on tongue will certainly help making a few more friends if not anything else.
