Shenzhen Stuff

So, in preparation for my Silk Road trip, I've been learning to pronounce the places better. What I called Kashgar as a boy should really be Kashi, similarly Urumqi should be Wulumuqi and Turpan Tulufan.

Then today we has an Uyghur driver and asked him about the names and he rolled of Kashgar, Urumqi and Turpan. So it's all a problem with Han Chinese being unable to pronounce the words, and not my problem.

@Zen - most of the places we visited were very interesting, but I would say Kashgar and Turpan were the definite highlights. Certainly worth the trips out to see Karakul Lake and Shipton's Arch near Kashgar and the ancient fortress city near Turpan.

All in one:unlucky guess, cheat and review your profile.

The 46 in my handle is my birth year, so I only work part-time now. My money goes into Tsing Tao cans mostly bought from my local fruit shop.

Yes, I'm a mathematician. Was that a lucky guess or did you cheat and look at my profile?

We got along very well, and couldn't have blamed the weather. It was hot in Chengdu and for one day in Urumqi, but most of the rest of the time was cloudy. We even had a brief hard rainstorm during our day in the Taklamakan.

So,it's an economical trip.Saving money is a talent.Perhaps you have a mathematical mind.Still,I couldn't see you have the spirit of being rich.If put your salary into cola can,how many cans to take? And how many cans for your bonus?
Do you argue with each other during the trip in such hot days?I wanna make war with people around,I did.And I blame the weather only.

I am, in fact, incredibly rich. We were on the road for over four weeks staying in Chengdu, Urimqi, Ili, Kashgar, Turpan, Hami, Jiayuguan, Xining and Lanzhou. We used a mixture of flights and train, with csr/driver for day trips. There were three of us travelling together at a total cost of rmb14k each.

One of my regrets of leaving China is not having traveled around the country the way I would... Seeing the west is still in my bucket list though.
