We're all students of love. Some, it seems, are destined for the detention camps of love.
Sometimes by choice. Most times because of an inability to correctly choose, trust, or
yield to our gut instincts and turn away from the warning signs of pain and ultimate
disappointment. While it's still early. That's why in reimagining both the movie
& chosen theme, I paraphrased (in the blog's title) Bishop T.D. Jakes axiom'.
After all nobody knew what Samuel Ludlow's fiancée, Susannah Fincannon
was up against as she arrived by train to discover Montana. We live in
a world — a real world — with more runners than stayers. Cultures
selling the false proposition that a provider is THE ideal partner
or true love. To which Tyrese Gibson rightly retorts: “I have
enough money to 'put a ring on' 7 women ... My purchase
doesn't make me a husband. It makes me a provider ...

what true love entails. And then there is, I think
the wonderful reminder reflecting on what T.
D. Jakes says about some lovers seemingly
being capable only of “pints of love” as
opposed to the “gallons of love” or
care one needs, or deserves. And
when we juxtapose that harsh
reality, often the cause of
disappointments and a
in lack of fulfillment
in relationships,
with Susannah's
ordeal, avoi-
ding pain
