The ThiNKiNG Man's Game: Understanding Right-Brainers

The Medium is NOT the Message

Apart from the fact that the music is part of the whole picture we're about to explore,

the malady of the confused and more often than not, left-brainers trying to objectify

their internet experience, is that they're not even aware of their shortcomings. My

mentor Peter Coughter said it best. “All these...guys live over on the left side of

the brain. And they are trying to objectify the subjective. Because they're not

comfortable in the right side of the brain. They can't come over & they can't

speak our language. Most [creative people are right brain] type individuals

Right-brainers can go over. We can deal on the left side. It's not that

complicated. It's straightforward...But the guys on the left side are

really uncomfortable on the right side because it's about feelings.

It's about gut. We look at something and we go: 'Wow. That's

really cool. That really works' you know. And you may not

even be able to articulate why! They want to turn this

magical art form into building sidewalks.” East Coast–

West Coast/Left Brain–Right Brain rivalry, you ask?

Far from that. Even if there's a reason Daniel H.

Pink's book is so well regarded. Truth be told,

this isn't a topic I even relish discussing. But

a Creativity Test I agreed to take several

months back (see results and intriguing

insights below), affirmed what we

already know. Namely, that no-

thing beats balance. Creative

work is not about colors &

whatever your personal

preference. Holistic

right-brainers use

medium because

the experience

is itself the

message
