Things Which Amuse Rather Than Offend Me

I was outside the Home Taste restaurant on the very busy ZhenZhong Lu on Saturday evening, where there are railings between the footpath and the road.  A taxi screamed to a halt - not that close to the curb - the driver jumped out and starting pissing against the offside passenger door of his taxi.  I looked at him, he looked at me and he carried on pissing.  Then jumped back into his taxi and screamed off again leaving a wet patch in the road.  Note to self - be careful if the offside passenger door of a taxi appears damp.

I ate at the fancy Hot Pot restaurant above Seibu in Citic City Plaza on Sunday evening.  As it's fancy I went outside the building for a cigarette to the walkway in front of the building.  The local residents walk their dogs there and this one dog took a dump, which is quite usual, and the guy picked it up in his plastic bag, which is quite usual.  However, he then took a tissue from his pocket and wiped the dog's arse, which is not usual, and deposited both items in the recycling bin.  Note to self - don't try and recycle the contents of those bins.

Walking back home on the walkway between Seibu and Ke Xue Guan Station I passed one of those shops where you sit in a chair and place your feet on a vibrating pad.  It's supposed to relieve your foot-weariness.  However, one woman was sitting, not on the chair, but on the pad.  She was smiling.  Note to self - suggest this to a YCG friend?

Your attitude is why you have had such as successful life as an expat.  You have to see the humor in things and not get angry...or as I like you say you have to be mellow to happily live in China.  People who are "wound too tight" will never be happy living outside their own country.

So..Friday you take me to a dump, but then Saturday you go to a nice restaurant :-/
