▼Intro to Multi-Dimensional Living & Associative Skills▼
TO SURVIVE THIS CENTURY: ORGANIZE, INTELLIGENTLY MANAGE & STRUCTURE INFORMATION
A 2010 Newsweek cover attracted attention to a Creativity Crisis in America. Problem is
here in China, both physical & digital noise (hence the above), over-simplification, ram-
pant contempt for evidence, gushing speculation and a lack of basic associative skills use
-ful for real world problem-solving, has left many open to an inferiority complex of their
own making. Nothing beats hands-on experience & problem solving. Yet when many are
willfully drowning in information overload and a relentless dumbing down of their own
making largely because of an always-on/must react addiction—all the while confined
to insular web experiences (unawares) vis-à-vis E. Zuckerman in this blog, it helps
to understand what two-dimensional thinking, within the meaning of this blog,
is. T.B. Rickert writes: “Two-dimensional thinking [is] to not look beyond the
moment, to understand only the moment but not the cause and effect. Two-
dimensional thinking will get you by, thinking beyond will get you ahead”.
If positive open-mindedness, which I'd describe as the practice of thin
-king & functioning in multitiple dimensions, offer more judicious, re-
warding, intelligent & peaceful enrichment of both self & the world,
what then are dimensions and three dimensions? Harvard theoreti-
cal physicist Lisa Randall explains: “There're a number of ways
to think about what dimensions are...three dimensions are...
you can say are left, right; forward, backward; up, down...
you think about it...there're three dimensions of space.”
This isn't something that is confined to Particle Physics
alone. Two-dimensional thinking (seeing everything
in absolutes, either/or & categories), is sympto-
matic of self-destructive creativity crisis. There
are many netizens these days, who don't know
as Trillennium boldly states, that “Over-sim-
plification is now the enemy! The old ada
-ges of divide and conquer (functionally
decompose & hierarchically delegate)
& "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid) only
worked in a much slower paced,
simpler, smaller world. Today
you need the power of Multi
-Dimensional Thinking”. Or
else, you feel frustrated,
intimidated, unsettled,
annoyed & turned off
by experiences and
complexities pre
-sented by those
at peace both
with multi-di
mensional &
ven living
