It is not unusual to see and hear comments about how China and Chinese can not think independently. They say Chinese can only copy and borrow from others. They don’t innovate, and that is why Chinese culture stays in China. It has not spread around the world as has American culture. Like all stereotypes, this may have some basis in truth, but in reality there are things others would do well to learn from China.

On December 31, we got together with friends and family. We devoured a very nice dinner, had drinks, watched special TV shows, and looked at fireworks going off outside. At midnight we raised a toast to the new year.

On February 9, we got together with friends and family. We devoured a very nice dinner, had drinks, watched special TV shows, and looked at fireworks going off outside. At midnight we raised a toast to the new year.

China celebrates two new years every year. China has twice as many new year’s parties as most other places in the world. This is a great idea, and one the rest of the world should adopt.

Filthy Lucre

I Agree with you.

English Dominated after a WWII, even today British Complaints against former Language of Civilisation - French. Called French Language of Aristocrat...

In U.S. last year I heard on the Radio - more then a 100 Public School where a Second Foreign Language - not a Spanish - Chinese, if True school for a Poor ppl.

In Canada for example in Banking system a third Language, after English and French - Chinese.

About Powerful American Culture - Chinese Ordered and Already Received from Hollywood a National Hero!!!

@Sergi. Culture is a wide range of things, not a few small examples like you cite. Western movies, science, sports, business methods, medicine, and English language (to name a few things) are being embraced by China. There are few things Chinese so prevalent in the west.

There is an English language school on every block in some areas of Shenzhen. While it is possible to learn Chinese in America, you will have a difficult time finding a school or private teacher.

china will never be the world innovator and neither do they want , they will innovate to the point of being just behind the curve and thats enough. they will maintain their manufacturing base becuase they are very good at it. Their culture and political system allows them the flexibility of manpower, land and resources to facilitate manufacturing of almost any product in a reasonably efficient manner.Flexibility and harmony are the key things to this strategy. They can learn new technology from the west-no need to create it.

Here in Cambodia we have three new year's parties. Ours, China's and the Buddhist one (in the form of Songkran - same, same in Thailand by the way). So we win and China remains a loser, which is as it should be.

to me usa is only country which doesn't have its own culture even country like australia with over 70% immigrant population has been able to save its original inhabitants where usa failed

in Usa how many of current generation knows who red indian were and what they did for living... all we know is the wild west movies.

@Praveen. There are many aspects to U.S. culture. For example, there is a high murder rate, but if you stay away from drug dealers or gang members, the U.S. murder rate is the same as in Belgium. The fact is, if U.S. culture was no good, it would net be embraced almost everywhere.

US has a culture interesting to note. One of the biggest consumer of drugs, most of the health problems that you find in anywhere in the world you can find it there. most unstable family life food habits health related disorders. i think usa lost its culture long time back. its a randomness that exists there. like the theory of randomness, more the degree of freedom more is the degree of randomness. And more the randomness more is the unstability. Atleast in China few people think , others implement it and rest reap the benefits of it. it is lot better then most people think few people implement it and even fewer people reap the benefit from it.

most imp LESSON FROM CHINA IS THEIR PATRIOTISM, THERE DEVOTION TO THEIR NATION.
