Shenzhen Stuff

Well, after 6 years spent in China, I've come to the (late) realization that there is no future for me here.

A decision had to be taken, either stay and go on with my day to day routine that leads pretty much nowhere in a near and far future, or go home and start working for my old days. And give my daughter a decent education where she will not be the foreigner forever.

I have the choice and my friends and family are waiting for me with open arms and opportunities.

So, I' going back. I'll be leaving in 2 weeks, just enough time to pack and say goodbye to all the wonderful people I've met here, and that I will miss.  I'll probably come back here every once in a while for holidays. And I'll be on Szs every now and then, just to check that I have nothing to lose by leaving.

Agree totally with Kevin! There has to be a deadline and it's better be short and painless....The departure, I mean :-)

It'll break more than one heart, Val, but I am sure you're making the right move and I believe we all knew that sooner or later you will have to go. For Loulou's as well as for your sake...

See you at the weekend!

If life was as easy as moderating a website...

See you on Saturday!

Zomb, I'll see you soon!

Yes Kev, I feel that even though my life style will definitely be less... careless, overall it's an improvement. Safer food, healthcare that deserves to be called so, and tones of cream and butter and yogurt and sea food and nice meat and... Man I'm already getting fat.

This is a decision everyone has to take sooner or later and if you feel like it's about time to leave, I guess you weighed that up. I'm sure this is the best move for your daughter, she will receive a proper education in a safe environment at least.

See you at your farewell party the 4th of March at the latest.

Cynic, I'll be on the website for sure.

David, I know for sure I'll miss it here. That's why I keep it open for me in the future.

Kath, I'd love to come and see you. I've never been on that side of the planet and it could be a really fun trip, especially with you around!

Damn, I am away for a few days and another ones leaving. Sorry to hear this news Val, but I do understand the thinking behind it. With all the family and friends it sounds like a good way to go. I know you will miss it here though, everyone does (even Mr C though he would never admit it?). In a weird way it does get under your skin. Best of luck, and safe travels back to France. Of course you will still be around here so not goodbye just Adieu. ; )

At least you realized there is nothing in China in the long run.  Great place for some quick money, a short term life experience or for losers who don't really like to work but love to claim they are teachers or entrepreneurs. It should always be looked at as a temporary and not a long term one.

Good luck and hope you stay on the site as I don't know anyone else whose French that I can tease.
