DISCRIMINATION AT UBAR

I always go to Ubar every Saturday, I even promoting how good to be at Ubar, free advertising I guess - it was fun then suddenly last Saturday (July 05) just to finish the bottle of gin that we left the other Saturday (June 28). And I was inside with my colleagues and we were drinking, a guard came to me and asked, AM I A FILIPINA? I replied, YES, and they said I need to be out of Ubar, WOW! Why?? They said its management decision.

To avoid any problems, I went out left the bottle of gin that I bought for RMB 400.00, this is not fun for me, but I hope someone can explain, the discrimination that happens there.

I'm in China for almost two years, working in an exporting/manufacturing company, as a sales person and this is the first time that I got humiliated.

Dear Lei, i really feel sorry for wht happend in U Bar with you. I know whts going on there, as i was regular custome before there and very familliar there too........coz of some the right person have to face the probs, as before te U Bar image is good, but after the hookers start coming the U Bar image go down too much. If anyone ask where to find the hooker they just mention U Bar, so to take the image back they have to change some policies, but the policy they changed is good, but it effected the right person also.

You can talk to the manager there, and also the boss is there evryday, u can talk to them and tell your problem too. I will take your matter with them, and tell them to take care of that things which spoiling the image of there bar.

I moved to Shenzhen last May of 2007, not aware or I dont want to hear or maybe I ignore it because its not my business for those who sell their 'things", I've got my own business and they've got their own "monkey business".

Changing policies is good if its implemented properly, but what happen there, IT'S NOT. Well my colleagues tried, Expat also, from South America and our Filipino Designer, but he didn't listen to us.

If you will be able to talk to them, tell them they are cheaters at the same time. We left a bottle of gin and three cans of Tonic, they gave us a proof to show them when we decided to come back, and when we got there, we gave them the proof, this is what they said, we need to pay for the three cans of Tonic, come on!! What the f@??!

If they want proof, look for a slip that we gave back to the bar tender, the gay bar tender (can't pronounce the name and even that one sells something) to claim our bottle and tonic, on that slip its says "LAYLA" July 05.

I will continue spreading what they have done to me, this is the experience that I think is worth to share. I will stay in China till the 15th of July, and go for holiday but that doesn'nt mean I'm gonna stop till I get what I want.

Niko, greatly appreciate the effort that you replied and that you offer to take this matter with them, I hope to get a feedback. If I can only have the phone number, I will talk to them. I need to stand to what I THINK is RIGHT!

whatever happens there will not change the fact that Ubar is not the same place that I used to be, I have told my friends in EF also about this issues, my friend Brit also found this terrible, and he said he will talk to Nic and Mike (both foreigners), well we always go there, we just live accross Ubar, City Square to be exact.

I will have to meet other friends this weekend, but definitely not at Ubar, goodluck to Ubar, go and clean your image. Better check people inside who dance on top of that bar side and teasing people compared to those who people who wears decent clothes and sit at the corner while enjoying their drinks..

So sorry to hear that , but i bet , that guy already forgot , what he had done to you. And i bet he never thought , that he hurt you that bad.
I think , you shouldn't leave that just like this. Ofcourse , if you would try to talk to the owner or whatever , it's 99.9% that no one will listen to you.Well , they would listen , probably would talk to the guards about how should they treat customers. But i'm more than sure , it wouldn't change anything.
Only if owner really cares about his reputation. But , usually they care about rich guests.

I'm not rich but that doesn't mean I have to keep my mouth shut... I will still share this bad experience I had at UBar and I wont stop.

I will not allow anyone to just humiliate me that way, I didnt come here to be humiliated, I left my own country, I'm well compensated with my last work, I just want to experience working abroad. Hope this will not happen to me when I decide to go and work in Switzerland.

I'm totaly on your side!!!
I hate that humiliating. Some similar situations happened to me as well , and i had never gave up.
But you shouldn't take it that close to the heart. Don't live it like this , but also don't be that sensitive .
You know , who you are , what you are doing and ppl who knows you , respects you. Who , doesn't , God is a judge for them . Wish them all the best and just don't go to that place.
World is not without ignorants.

it's not being sensitive, I'm just doing my part, this happens to me for some reason, to share what happen, don't go to that bar again, to warn anyone and etc..
