I finally got my residence permit late Thursday afternoon – too late to move out of the Hotel that day. The final obstacle was my lack of a China visa, as the police computer system does not allow you to enter APEC Business Travel Card, instead of a visa type and number. I am now the proud owner of a HK Return Home Permit according to the police computer system. The two ladies with two babies had extended their stay, now spending what they had saved in hotel bills.
